Service conductors above ground

Hello every one...

I have a situation where I have to run 8 sets of 500kcmil of service entrance conductors above ground from the transformer into the building where the main service is located. The transformer is about 10' away from the building, which means I have to run the conduits vertical on the exterior wall before penetrating the wall from the top to main switchboard. My concern is that I can not run these conductors without overcurrent protection since they are above ground. Is this a code violation. Any thoughts..!

Service entrance conductors are run on the exterior of buildings frequently. Once you enter the building then section 230.70 shall be followed.

You can run service conductors around the entire exterior of the building, but as soon as you go inside you must hit a disconnect.

Also 230.6 is worth a look.
