New York State Code Cycle discussion

NYS has not moved into a new code cycle revision as of yet. There are conflicting reports bouncing all over the place.

Currently, for dwelling unit requirements, we are referencing the state document and some of the 2002 NEC.

I am and have been curious to see what we will be doing come this January. As far as I can tell, no one actually knows yet.

As of now, we do not have much to do in regards to AFCIs (we are still enforcing branch/feeder type), Weather resistant or tamper proof receptacles.

If NYS decides to go to the '08, the ECs are in for some ride....

Do the people in charge of this stuff really have a clue? With the rapidly changing technology in this industry how can these people just sit by and do nothing?

Ive heard no chance on the 08.Maybe nothing until 2011

I would not be surprised, just very disappointed.

It really screws me up when I take other classes, as the discussion generally leads me into confusion, forgetting which code I have been referencing for which installations. As of now I am in the '02, '05, '08 and looking at the ROP of the 2011.
