I have a question on this.

I am working on a fountian that someone else started now I have to finish...lucky me.

I have all my gear in the room and only have one bare copper wire that I was told is my ufer. Normaly there would be bare #8 from the water feature stubbed up with conduits that is tied to the rebar.

Someone else told me they had tied everything together at the ground rod and brought one bare wire back.(so called ufer) for transformer. That does not sound right to me.

Can you bond your motors, pipes, metal enclosures together and tie into the ufer?

Maybe I am reading wrong........

The "BOND" wiring for the fountain's metallic parts is not the same as a required electrode "UFER". I do not believe they should even be connected unless circumstances are correct. Take a look at 680 and specifically part V.

DRT,

ground rods and concrete encased electrodes (uffer) are not required anywhere in Article

680. As the others have stated, a bare #8 copper "bonding" all the metal parts and rebar

if used to the EGC of the pump motor is what is needed.
