gfci protection

is gfci protection required for cord and plug connected 110v. well equipment . I looked into article 210 but can't find anything on well equipment.Any help wouild be appreciated thanks.

The general requirements for GFCI protection are located in 210.8.

There are no specific requirements for GFCI protection of "well equipment".

Although I see well pumps and septic pumps with "single" 15 and 20 amp 120v receptacles quite often, I see nothing in 210.8 (A) that would allow these to be installed without GFCI protection when at dwelling units in the '08 Code. Some of the exceptions in '05 and earlier Codes, such as "not readily accessible", made such installs Code compliant, but '08 removed most of those exceptions.
