Fire bell height in IFC or California Part 9?

Got a flow switch and bell (No FACP) - looking for a placement for the bell....

Check your local building code but i thing you should mont the bell on the top of the standpipe outside of the building 8 feets up from the floor

I don't know of any code requirements. I would mount it a little higher, like 10' just to keep it out of baseball bat range.

Around here, the fire dept. always wants the bell above the standpipe, like DARUSA mentioned.

FWIW: Our local fire dept. asks for a combination bell/strobe. I guess the idea is having a bell and a strobe by the standpipe helps them find it faster. I guess the strobe might be helpful for that at night.
