This site says 80" also, but that it can less if the sconce projects 4" or less from the wall.

I have always used the 6'6" standard with Woodhead cord drops and resi scones. It could be higher. I would not put them any lower.

I've installed some 277V walkway lighting on a sidewalk's retaining wall. The wall was sloping from 30" high to around 48". Most of the lights were at 24" center AFF.

If I remember, they stuck out more than 4", so it is entirely possible that they have since been removed.

I am not aware of an NEC code requirement for the height of 277V fixtures in a building. There may be local codes/installation instructions.


Be careful in regards to ADA, not all jurisdictions follow the ADA, some have their own requirements, such as in NYS.
