My friend notched the ceiling for each bracket then after sticking the can into the ceiling he rotated the whole thing to lock it into place. I just laughed.

I usually set the spring steel with a screwdriver and lineman's pliers, it usually works.

If I have to fight the springs more than once, it's time for a block of wood screwed to the rock, then a screw through the can into the block. I just did this about 3 hours ago in my own house. But now that the factory springs are removed one of the trim ring springs found it's way into the old slot and I can't get it out. Projects in my own house rarely go according to plan for some reason!

You need to push the black spring tabs a bit father up with the tip of a flat-blade screwdriver for them to wedge in place.

thanks!

thanks!

Thanks! As you have said, Kliens and screwdriver are the trick! If the first attempt failed, I pulled the spring steel clip and slightly opened it , and that was the key! Thanks again!! Hava a great week!:)
