I have used these in several applications in our plant but they are 120 VAC only and too large to fit in the space I have available. Has anyone ever seen anything like this that has a much smaller paddle, 2.5" diameter would be about the largest I could use, and requires only 24 VDC. I do not have 120 available on this machine. I know I have seen them online before but cannot find anything now. Thanks in advance.

Try here: http://www.binmaster.com/Sales/distributors.asp

(And next time, look at the links on the website you posted. ;) (Sales, then Distributor Locator))

Don't need a distributor...the factory is 2.5 miles down the road...I used to work there.

Again, they have one with the correct electrical specs but it is huge. They also have one that is of an acceptable size but it requires 120 VAC which I don't have.

The application is to sense the presence of recycled polyethylene pellets in a hopper. There is a lot of what we call "angel hair" mixed in with the pellets which is prone to stick to the face of the capacitive prox sensor we use now. This causes the sensor to "see" material when the only thing present is angel hair. It is a variable sensitivity sensor and we end up spending a ton of time trying to dial-in the sensitivity. Plus it's not in a location which is easily accessible for someone of my........girth.

It has 480 service and a 480 primary/24 VDC secondary power supply. I'd rather not use a transformer if I don' have to. I just thought maybe someone had seen something like the rotary switch I listed above.

try http://www.go4b.com/usa/pdf-datasheets/roto-safe-level-indicator.pdf 2nd page. Still on the larger size but call them up. They may have something just for you. The problem we have with the rotary is if it is allowed to be covered with the product any string like fibers tend to wrap around the shaft which then cause it to give false readings. A vertical installation prevents that for the most part. Not cheap but less than Binmaster I believe.

Why don't you pipe in some compressed (instrument) air to automatically blow off your "angel hair"?

Personally, I would prefer a non-contact element, but that's just me.

Try ultrasonic gap or vibrating fork as an alternative.

My bad. Sorry.
