Dwelling Unit Bedroom

We are the electrical subcontractors for the remodel of a studio apartment of 400 sq. ft., consisting of one large L-shaped room, and a separate kitchen and bathroom. The bed is in one "leg" of the L, the other leg comprises the living/dining room. For the purposes of 210.12 (B) is the entire open room considered the dwelling unit bedroom, therefore requiring all receptacles to be AFCI protected ?

I should mention that we are on the 2005 cycle.
But I guess we should just pretend we are on the 2008 and make
them all AFCIs, to remove all doubt ?

Flash, I'd consider them to be separate rooms. The same situation arises in great rooms and kicthen/dining areas.

If you could draw a dotted line on the plans denoting areas, you can use those lines to separate rooms without walls.

Or maybe the whole L part will be considered dining area and need to be wired in #12

Only the AHJ in your area can really determine the extent of the bedroom area.

I would recommend contacting the local building department.
