A yoke is the strap that the device is attached to. Multiple receptacles on one yoke could be 2 or more receptacles on one strap. Despard type receptacles had 3 and maybe 4 single receptacles on a single strap. Multiple switches as well.

No, it is (or was) real. I've had some in the past.

They were good for, say, behind the TV back in the days of having a separate UHF tuner, an antenna rotor, and maybe a clock.

You know, the stuff we use power strips for now.
