Massachusetts S License

We're packing up and moving to Boston (Brighton). All the job postings i see tell me i need the S License. What is it? How difficult? And what should i study?

I'm already a NICET 4 in fire alarm, so i'm used to the code books.

I have S license and all it required was a background check, but that may be because I already had an electrical license.

When the boss told me they had put my paper work in for it I was a bit concerned.:grin:

By the way the S license is for security system installations.

Even though we are primarily an electrical contracting company we hooked up with a national security company to keep the service trucks busy during these slow times. It is generally very easy work but you need to be able to provide true 24/7 service which is a pain. I was wrapping up a 10 hr day yesterday when I had to run to a security call.
