dryer circuit

Is it permissable to connect to a dryer circuit in the outlet box and feed a water heater so long as the OCP is okay? I have researched this and cannot find anything that says that a dryer must be on an individual branch circuit.

assuming you have no means to keep them from operating simultaneously, from the water heater standpoint, a single overcurrent device big enough to supply both would be a violation of 210.23 and 422.11(E).
