I have been to several homes that I see single thhn conductors running in the walls. I have always told my customers that the wires must be in conduit or romex but I can?t find a code section that states that.

I have, in the past, run a single conductor to a receptacle to establish an EG. I used 250.130 C (1) as my reference.

Me too, I'd trust that more than putting a GFI there, on a two wire circuit. It's best for impedence if the EGC is ran with the ungrounded. But the exception allows the single conductor to be ran for this purpose. But this post is funny,,,,,your customers have to tell you how to do a job?
