Has anyone had any luck with reducing the calculated loads for track lighting using a current limiter for each track run instead of 150 va per 24" as per 220.43(B)NEC? These limiters have an integral switch that acts as a circuit breaker and will trip if the load exceeds the capacity. The limiter switch can also be used as an off/on device.
 
From what I can tell you are trying to reduce the feeder and or service load calculation. While you may be able to reduce the actual load and or fault current you must still use the value indicated to calc. load. Not going to be a help to you.

we spec them all a lot. Juno, Lightolier, ConTech all make em. Probably other mfgs too. They are a "supplemental overcurrent device". Often rated in watts, like 300, 600, 900, 1200.
I think they were developed to aid in Energy Code compliance. CA addd them to their Title 24 docs.
 
we have done 2 mall store jobs in the last 6 mos that integrated these panels into their design. Unfortunately, the designers improperly calculated the actual amps used, and the result was a disaster that not only cost them money, but resulted in the devices being bypassed completely for one (farily large) store. If you use these in your designs, please calculate the actual load amps used. Please also consider the fact that the customer might integrate these into the design, yet change their fixture spec. If the calculations are too tight, the result is a disaster.
