i am running 240v thru a time clock to supply a couple of dedicated 20a 240v receptacles. i also have a couple small 120v loads i would like to plug in and run at the same time schedule. i looked around the code book but did not see any thing for or against tapping 120v off 240v. anything to be aware of regarding this set up?

If you bring in a neutral then you have created a multiwire branch circuit. By doing this you need to meet the requirements of a multiwire branch circuit in accordance with 210.4.

Also make sure that the small 120 volt loads that you are going to connect to the circuit are permitted to be connected to a 20 amp circuit (Check out the manufactures installation instructions).
