If i have a lug rated 1/0 to 500 mcm and i ran 600 mcm compact aluminum (for voltage drop) and the wire fits under the lug is it right??

If it fit without trimming, I'd do it without a second thought.

May not be legally Kosher, but it's electrically sound.

I agree with Larry assuming the set screw in the lug has all the threads engaged like it should.

I wouldn't do it even if it did fit. The lug is rated for a maximum condcutor size of 500 Kcmil. Anything larger, compact or not is a violation.

Then, the answer is to ask whomever will be inspecting it. If it helps, offer to show them a sample of the wire in a terminal.
