UL 924A is a standard that allows for the emergency lighting inverter to be installed with a 15min. battery run time, however with building codes and NFPA requiring 90min for egress, you would also need a standby generator to accommodate the rest of the duration, however my question is where in the building code or NFPA does it state this exception? (I did some digging to no avail) where would it allow a UL924A inverter on a life safety system with generator back-up via an ATS, I could not find the exception or the rule hoping someone could help me out thanks.

Just use a larger battery to get the run-time outta your inverter. We installed such a setup on an industrial building with very high ceilings (over 20 ft). Wired some of the lights on separate (emergency) circuits, and they stay lit full brightness fed off the inverter during the outages. You can't even seem `em blink when switching over from one source to the other.
