We as a plant had an analysis to our electrical equipment and had the switch gear labeled . What should we do to be complaint with OSHA? Will we get doucumention on the survey? What else is required for us ?

A lot. Zog may post a good list of questions, but you need to find someone to work up a program for you, and train someone to administer it. There is more to it than just supplying the PPE, though that takes some consideration too. You won't learn it quickly by simply reading NFPA 70E, but you'll need that too.

A forum that is geared towards that can be found here.

-Establish your companies Electrical Safety Procedures in writing that complay to the 70E.
-Develop Energized Electrical Work Permits
-Develop procedures for contractor pre-qualification
-Purchase or rent your PPE, biggest mistakes are made here. Read my safety FAQ on PPE selection in this section
-Train your "qualified" and "Non-qualified" personel, classroom training is a start but to meet the 70E requirements additions task specific training wil be required.

These are the basics but there is more to consider, I will post my checklist I used to use for industrial plant conpliance on Monday (Unless someone else has it, I haev posted it here before)

Thanks zog for your list. When I get to go back to the plant this will come in handy for the workers . We are always talking about electrical work when I am there ,they just had a survey, no one else knows about all these steps they need to do in the electrical safety program. I like this.

76,
I did'nt say anything about working with live gear. From what I know it is suppose to be de energized work at all times. Thank you

That has been used by hundreds of industrial plants including some of the names everyone knows, that used to be my job, getting plants into compliance. You have the what, feel free to ask questions about the how.

On the mcc there are 2 labels 1 on each end of the mcc, does this mean the label applies to any bucket work is performed in ? I am told they don't use the tables anymore because they had a study completed there, is this so? I also read or seen it somewhere about the annex in 70e that the sections are suggestions and not something that is required to be followed, I see some form like permits and presedures are labeled in annex sections , I thought that the permits were required when working energized ?

For the vast majority of all existing MCCs, a fault in one of the buckets will propagate onto the vertical bus in that section. Most studies list a single incident energy value for all of the vertical sections, although some will include a separate value for the line side lugs of an integral main device.

Think of the annexes as examples/suggestions that can be used to meet the requirements the body of the standard.

You need a comprehensive program based on OSHA 1910 Subpart S, cross-referenced with the NEC.
OSHA promised to provide such working document as a guideline, but did not get around it so far. I had developed a program with checksheets that list the specific items applicable to our company profile. It has retro-activity segregation as some requirements only have to be met if the installation was done after a certain date. There are large sections of the NEC that OSHA does not address as they do not considering those employee safety issues.

It's a pain, I tell you.

Onething is clear, as I interpret it: all facilities falling under OSHA purview has to have coordination study AND arc-flash study.
