Does anyone here know if electrical engineers in Ohio need to draw electrical plans to Code? Is it required by the state?

When I register in a township or city, I usually have to sign a statement stating that I will 'install electrical systems in conformity with the applicable codes', or something to that effect.

Are EEs subject to similar to work in this state (or others)?

There is not generally a code defining how drawings are to be done.

I doubt that they are allowed to design something that does not meet the applicable code requirements. That does not mean it might not happen now and then.

You need to read your State Laws, In NC its all the States General Status which control what an engineer can do.

Our State Laws also control licensing of electricians; both have their own separate boards that are written into General Status.

Here is Ohio’s PE Licensing board.

I don't believe there is anything like the Doctor's hippocratic oath.

But anyone that has a PE (or even doesn't have one) but is either not registered or is practicng without being regesitered with the Board they will become interested.

Here are a few quotations from the Washington state Administrative Code:
? Registrants are to safeguard life, health, and property and promote the welfare of the public. To that end, registrants have obligations to the public, their employers and clients, other registrants and the board.
? Registrants must be able to demonstrate that their final documents and work products conform to accepted standards.
? Registrants shall be competent in the technology and knowledgeable of the codes and regulations applicable to the services they perform.

Me too, that's where I am going with this.

Thanks Cadpoint. Looking quickly I didn't see anything much. There is a requirement that a PE be knowlegable of the aaplicable standards, but stopped short of requiring they be followed. I'll keep looking.

Yeah, that is the kind of thing I'm looking for.
