Any suggestions on PLC books or training that I can purchase that can help me understand PLC's better?
Look at American Technical Publishers they have good PLC books.
I like Allen Bradley Micro Mentor, its $20 and based on the Micrologic PLC. You can buy a micrologix starter kit, software and cable for about $150. The only way to learn to program is to get in front of a PLC. A book won't do it.
Classes from AB are very expensive but worth while.
If you need any free advice on A-B PLC 2, 3, 5 or ControlLogix, PM me. I work with them every day and have been for 20+ years and would like to help you if I can.
