question about 200a meter main

Sq D All-in-one with 200amp rated meter socket and mains rated 250amp w/ 200amp rated feed thru lugs and 8 spaces in addition to the main breakers. Why is the bus fed with 2 200amp 2 pole breakers tied together? Type Hom.

Does the main look like a four-pole breaker? If so, each line uses two breaker bodies in parallel.

My buddy, who's having trouble with his service, sent me pictures from Colo. and that is what it looks like...2 200amp breakers in parallel with 4 feeders. Never seen that and was wondering why it was done that way? Don't know how to post pictures. Steve

SQ D & a few others use a 200A breaker that is really 2 100A 2-pole circuit breakers in parallel.

The stabs are each rated ~100A each. The directions for
that pump panel also says that you can only put 100A
breaker below the main.
