The washing machine is not required by the NEC to have GFCI protection but the receptacle that the washing machine utilizes may.

If this is a residential setting you would want to review the requirements of 210.8(A). For non-dwelling look at 210.8(B).

If the washing machine is installed in a bathroom or within 6' of a sink then yes, a GFCI is required
