Fire Rated Walls...

Had an inspector say that MC can't pass through a fire rated wall, that it had to be pipe? Why would he be saying this? I've done numerous jobs and seen numerous with MC passing through without problems before. Do I have an off the wall inspector?

Unless you have local rules to the contrary of the UL Orange Books, the inspector is wrong.

I've never heard that one before .. Check the manufactures web-site .. or check the tag from the coil or spool .. it should say that it is OK for fire wall penetration .. "When properly fire caulked"

This stuff is classified for 1, 2, or 3 hour rated walls.
