What would be the HRC for a 480V 3000A main? Meaning to energize, and or take testing measurements (voltage/amperage). I have been looking at buying a suit for such work, and not sure what I need, although I venture to say it is HRC 4.....if I was to guess....any help appreciated.

It would be a guess and likely there is no PPE that will protect you. You need to know the available fault current and the clearing time of the upstream protective device. Usually you will have >100 cal/cm2 in a case like this but without knowing the correct data no one can tell you what the HRC will be.

You could refer to the 70E tables but you will need to be within the limits of the notes, which likely you will not be.

For operating your best bet is to do it remotely.
