We have a 1-1/2" schedule 40 metal support for pendant mounted televisions in a retail space. 3/c mc cable is run in the 1-1/2" along with the class 2 communication wire.

The inspector is asking to justify in the code the use of a reaceway in a raceway.

No justification needed. Neither the MC nor the structural support are raceways.

MC is a wiring method, not a raceway.

The Sch40 is being used as a mounting means not a raceway. Class 2 and MC cables permitted even if it were a raceway.
