We got dinged by a code inspector just now saying we got to have our data rough in done in conduit. This is a new T.I. build out and all we did was just a mud ring and a string above the ceiling height. The inspector says according to 2008 code it has to have a raceway. Only time you can fish wire is in existing walls.

He didn't cite us yet and will come back later today to re-inspect. What are your thoughts on this?

I would ask for a code number. While almost all i ever run in commercial are in conduit i know of no code issue. Usually its 3/4 emt just as a sleeve. no box just mud ring and caps on the emt that i usually turn a 90 on at the top. Most offices insulate walls for sound so really rather not pull them thru it. Let us know how it turns out. Technically if the wire is not in yet then you do not have an IT yet and will be fishing in later. Was it speced on prints ?
