Lamp holder in concrete and metal lath

Saw this today and have not idea how the lamp holder is wired. I guessing that a conductor was buried in the concrete slab above (about 4" thick, with the metal mesh lath at the bottom.

Has anyone had experience with this? In the photo, it looks like there is some type of grounding wire from the lampholder to the lath (unless that is just part of the lath).

So just where is this slab ? inside / outside ? Is it a ceiling ?

It looks like they laid a cable in the decking ang it gets poured over. Or maybe,It possible there's emt feeding a small round box.

My guess is you will find emt ran to a round box. If so no real issues.

Bingo. Common wiring method in the 50's. They sold rigs like that to fit 3-1/2 " octagon or round boxes. Electric rooms, Laundry rooms, and the like in old concrete multifamily apt buildings is where I come across them. Sometimes wired in wood frame buildings with old crumbly bx. Open the box up and you disturb the insulation enough by default that you end up gutting and rewiring the thing.
