Have any of you used this type of push in splice (or are there various types, some of which are one shot and other which can be released)? If so, is there a way to undo it? From what I can see, looks like there is no way to release the spring. The value of these just went down to me if you have to cut the ends off each time you use them.

twist them and pull at the same time, they come off just like the back stabs in a device. It may not be good for the conductor, but they will come right off.

I've seen installations 6 months old using those things, and connections are bad.

it is my opinion that wirenuts should not be reused . I notice when you twist a wirenut on say 3 twelve gauge wires or less or more the integrity of the wirenut goes down when you take it off and down again when you twist it back on. If I twist them onto wires and have to take them off I replace them it makes me more comfortable. And since I know what im doing i rarely have to take em off anyway. but just throwing that out there. I have a whole container of push ons on my truck wasting my gas from the weight. I got em for something special a while and did not use em and i never have the urge to use em. I Think a mechanical twist is better but again im no engineer and they are listed for the application. yes I leave the Halo ones on the wires and use them. 4-6 8 at the most recessed lights is less than 500 watts which is not that much.
