I can count the number of times I have been involved with Aluminum Conductors on 2 fingers in the last 46 years and it was not a big deal just make sure that lugs/connectors were rated for aluminum.
I have however been reading posts on this forum today where dual rated lugs/connectors was mentioned when splicing Cu to Alum.I thought I would check some catalog data if I could find some on the internet and educate myself on this subject.............I find a lot of part numbers(with a different suffix) that are for either one or the other.This would be the exact same lug but would have to be specified what specific cable metal it would be used with while others can be used for either.
I don't find one that is listed to be used with both copper and aluminum at the same time.............I would think this is correct as if they were used together and touching then a galvanic action would occur thus corroding one (alum I think) over a period of time.
I suppose there is a lug/terminator out there somewhere that isolates one metal from the other and still works as an acceptable connector for the task of mixing specific metals.
