Here that ahj lets us install single receptacles on appliances if they are fed with a dedicated circuit to take place of the gfi

He is biting off a lot of liability by doing this unless you have a local ammendment in writing and then your town or county just took on the liability. Either way is very foolish. Love to see you wiggle out of this in court when you have a death.

I suggest you meg out the washing machine first. Low voltage to ground could be a breakdown in the insulation or moisture in the wiring, cousing the GFCI to work properly and trip. Eliminate the washer from the circuit and reset the breaker or GFCI. See if the circuit holds. Get and amprobe on it too.:)
