2008 code dates

Dos anyone know the exact date the 2008 codes went into effect? And was there any type of grace period after that date. I filed a permit with the town in Noverber of 2009 and now they want to finish the work. I just wanted to know what codes I have to follow.

That would be a local call. Here in CO., we started the '08 code Aug. 1st '08

The NEC must be adopted by your state or municipality to be in effect.

For Indiana: 675 IAC 17-1.8 (NEC2008) Adopted by reference with exceptions effective Aug 26, 2009 to be known as the "Indiana Electrical Code".

On the first page of the NEC it says it became effective July 26, 2007. Its effective date does not give it the force of law; only adoption does.
