I have bought "festoon cable" It is a flat cable I used for a bridge crane. I just asked for it at my supply house.

But when it was popular we did 1000's of feet of the stuff, we had all the tools and installers that were good at it. Several buildings would spec us as the installer for any EC's bidding work in their building. So it has it's advantages.

14-2 Romex is pretty flat. And you can find it everywhere.
