I am retro fitting 3 lamp fixtures and have electronic ballasts that say 4 or 3 lamp applications. The schematic shows only 4 wire set up. I wired them using 1 yellow to one end of all 3 lamps and then separately wired the other end with blue and red leads from the ballast. I believe that is what is needed and they work, but Advance is not very clear on using them for 3 lamps (i.e. no schematic). Anyone see any issues with this?

If it works it is probably correct but without a schematic who knows.

I believe that you need 1 yellow to the 2 red/blue leads and 1 yellow to the single red/blue lead and then cap the unused lead.

Youshould be ok. If the ballast says three than you certainly can wire for three. I don't think they put all the different combos on the package.

I agree about capping something. Seems like I remember that but not sure of the config.

Most of the new ones I install are 120/277 with 2 yellows with 2 reds and 2 blues attached to 1 yellow each. The instructiones say cap the unused lead, red or blue.
They also work for a variety of bulbs....er, lamps

The "Universal" ballast requires you to cap off 1 blue lead.

Maybe it doesn't know the difference. The manufacture just might want the field installations to be consistent.
