I cannot come up with an answer to this.

Can anyone direct me to an answer if SOOW cable can be used in a cable tray above the raised floor, below the ceiling plenum, in a data center? It is not cord and plug, it is used for DC feeders.

I checked in Article 392. It is not listed on Table 392.3(A). However, "Other factory-assembled, multiconductor control, signal, or power cables that are specifically approved for installation in cable trays" is.

I also checked Article 645 and did not find anything that referenced it.

Anywhere else to look?

Thanks in advance.

I would say that it is not allowed.

As you say, it is not listed in Table 392.3(A). It is not an "Other factory-assembled, multiconductor....specifically approved for installation in cable trays" unless it is specifically approved by the AHJ. (If you look at the definition of "Approved" the AHJ is the only one who can approve something). All of the methods listed in the table are either chapter 3 wiring methods or are methods used for communication, signaling, etc.

It sounds like the way you want to use it might be a violation of 400.8(1).

TC cable would have been easier to identify, but they alrady ran the SOOW and I am trying to figure out if it is OK.
