Question is related to the cross over of international color coding for US applications. I have an application utilizing 12-16 AWG insulated conductors in a "Flexible" power chored (4 wire jacketed). Blue (Intl color) being the equivilent for the White / Grey (US) conductor. What is the acceptable way of field identification (per NEC) to facilitate use of the factory supplied power chord which contains the Blue color code?

Unless the cord with the blue wire was furnished with an appliance, there is no provision in the NEC to permit the use of the blue wire as a grounded conductor. 400.22(C)

Grounded conductor - Flxible Power Cords

Appreciate the cited reference (NEC 400.22C) relating to the cords furnished with the appliance. I believe this may be the case as the the subject equipment / appliance is single phase low power (120VAC), outdoor telecommunications equipment, furished from the factory with the "loose" power cord. The cord is preconnectorized on one end (Amphenol type plug) and unconnectorized on the other allowing for termination in the field. Does anyone know of related code definitions for what constitutes a qualifying "Appliance" ?

I ASSume you are using "international" colours as you want this device to be sold internationally.

Many jurisdictions do not permit the national connector to be installed in the field; they require that the thing be delivered with the plug installed.

The usual way of getting around this is to use an IEC connector as the power inlet, and then deliver a national cordset to wherever you are selling the thing.
