I agree, this is bs IMO, the PDF should be available to anyone who buys a book. It is free online, but the Table of contents feature is crapola.

If you purchase the book where you physically pick it up and then pay for it, say, your supplier, you can look for the free offer card inside the back cover. If the card is not there, then that copy is without the free PDF offer.

The 2011 has a small yellow round sticker on the front cover that states Free 2011 NEC PDF offer. No yellow sticker then no offer would be my bet.

Jack the pdf free download comes with some copies of the nec. You need to buy the 2011 code book and if you are lucky the pdf download codes are in the back of the book

I got lucky. A guy was buying one while I was at the supply house and they told him "don't forget to download your free PDF." He laughed and said he doesn't have a computer. I spoke up and asked him what he would take for the card. He pulled it out, gave it to me and said you owe me a favor someday!
