How is this electrode to be installed?

250.53(A) says were practicable.

Does this mean I can lay it on the topsoil?

I know 250.53(H) says 30".

It says the surface of the earth. So if 70% of the surface of the earth is water could I place this electrode at the bottom of my pond? Assuming 30".

A rod or a pipe electrode needs to go straight down. If rock is encountered the requirement changes to an angle not exceeding 45?. It can only be placed horizontally in a trench if all else fails. {250.53(G)}

A plate electrode is designed to be buried not less than 30" below the surface.

I'll take a shot.

How is this electrode to be installed?

With a shovel.

Good a place as any while your digging the hole.

Global warming will evaporate your pond then your digging a hole.

Bottom of a pond might work very well due to the water. A ferrous plate must rust away however.

I make smart remarks also. But I am reading the code.

So it will not rust in the ground?

Can you please give a clearer example of the install and which electrode you are referring to?

Thanks,

Dave

I am only debating the WORDING in 250.52(A)7) and 250.53(H).

I know that you are 'NOT' a new inspector but 'MAY' be new to how we debate things here.

I know that you are 'NOT' a new inspector but 'MAY' be new to how we debate things here.

I'm not a newbie to this forum, and I think your original post was vague enough as to it's intent as to be nonsensical. It appears that you have not made clear exactly what you would like to debate.

Feel free to compose your thoughts, then a post, and begin again. Perhaps a debate may come of that discussion.
