I have a commercial building that contains a Designated Critical Operations Area (DCOA), per NEC 708, Critical Operations Power Systems. The walls of the DCOA are 2-hr fire resistive walls, and all of the feeders entering the DCOA are properly rated per NEC 708. The transfer switch feeding the DCOA is located outside of the DCOA within a 2-hr enclosed room. The generator feeder to the ATS enters from below grade from an exterior generator.
Now to my question. . . The normal feeder to the ATS comes from the building's main switchboard. Is the switchboard considered part of the COPS feeder distribution equipment per NEC 708.11(B), and therefore required to be located within a 2-hr room?
