I'm going to take a stab and say he's talking about a Buss Duct (article 368), although I have never seen buss duct that small, smallest I have worked on was 600 amps up to 3ka, if the buss duct is protected by the correct OCPD then I see no problem if they are not tripping the OCPD, and as far as I know, buss duct only needs disconnect at the feed end just like any circuit conductors, in one plant, we had a 2Ka 480 volt buss duct that had the disconnect/OCPD all the way across the plant in the MDP, it was fed from the MDP to the feed end of the buss duct with 5/750Kcmil's TW and the only disconnect was the breaker in the MDP.
Saying that the calculated load is 320 amps sounds too rounded off, as in most cases you should never come up with exactly 320 amps? How did you do this calculation?
