I'm looking for opinions on a good quality megger mainly for residential use. I'd like the good and the bad, digital vs. analog pros and cons, etc. Price isn't really an issue, but i would prefer to stay under a grand. What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I have a 1507 for residentail as well and it is a good troubleshooting and maintenance meter. Take a look at the Fluke 1587 as well - it's a 1507 without polarization index but with a voltmeter, ohm meter, and other multimeter functions. It'll cost a bit more but can save you carrying a DMM and a 1507. The main problem I have with a 1587 is the lack of a low impedance voltage input - I run into enough ghost voltages in very long control circuits that I use the low impedance voltage function regularly.

I own a 1587 also. I have found it to be a very good choice for quick go/no go testing.

You could use a SV225 stray voltage adapter.

I've got a Fluke 1520

Mine works fine for what you'd need, I bought it just before the 1507 came out which were less money. I think you can get a 1507 now for under $500.

I could, but flipping the dial to switch between modes is much easier and it saves having to take the SV225 on and off for other measurement modes. I like having the right tool/accessory for the job, but my pet peeve is having to carry all of the bits and pieces in my bag or keep running out to the truck to get a different lead, clip, jumper, etc.
