Exterior Carport Typical Wiring

Good afternoon! When installing wiring exposed/surface mounted on apartment exterior carports what is your prefered method of wireing type i.e pvc, non-metallic conduit, m/c etc... Looking for common practices...Thanks

I've always preferred plain old romex,(covered with good old hawaiian redwood molding) but lately here the boys with the badge have been paying more attention to their code books so now I prefer uf or pvc with thwn.

It really depends on the situation. Pvc, Emt and even uf sleeved is common in my area. Mc must be listed for use in wet locations and I hardly ever see it used here.

EMT. It looks good and is easy to work with.

If you are good with a bender, EMT is also much easier and faster to run. PVC fades, too, and doesn't do it uniformly. Eventually the PVC will look like crap. I also don't know if painting PVC is kosher or not. Being plastic, some paints may break it down over time.
