hey! i was wondering if it is stated anywhere in the nec regarding tails for outlets? I always make splices and hook up tails on the outlet even though it cost more and takes more time but its a totally better job. Just curious if it was a violation wiring in and out of the outlet and if so where does it state this in the nec...... Thanks!

The issue is with the neutral conductor of a MWBC. For two wire circuits you can pigtail if you like but it's not a requirement.

I have seen it both ways. Poor twisting of the wire and nut, bad connection. Not stripping enough insulation on the wire. Binding screw loose on the wire, bad connection. if ether is done properly then,good connection. Every thing else is personal preference. Mine is to use the binding screw. Faster, less work, less material = more money
