12v circuits and the NEC

*Installation: 12v RV lights in a container fed via spring wound timer and 12v wet cell batteries. Batteries are charged by small PV modules on container roof.
*Question: Does the NEC address any aspect of this type installation?
*Issue: My customer has safety compliance people who "freak out" when they see any exposed electrical wiring.

Thanks in advance!

12v circuits and the NEC

Art. 690 would definitely apply by picking out the applicable sections. My system uses about 300 watts of module capacity to charge a couple batteries. It seems Art. 690 is primarily directed toward "higher" output advanced systems, rightfully so. Take a look at this note from Art. 720: 720.2 Other Articles. Installations operating at less than 50 volts, DC or AC, as covered in Articles 411, 517, 550, 551, 552, 650, 669, 690, 725, and 760 shall not be required to comply with this article. Do I understand this correctly? Circuits under 50v mentioned in the articles listed do not need to comply with article 720? It begs the question: Why waste the space for Art. 720!?
