I have heard that. I really don't know if it helps to alternate the AFCI's. But it can't hurt anything.I do try to alternate them when I can.

480sparky Senior Member Location Iowegia Dec 17, 2010 #3 AFCI's do tend to create more heat than standard breakers, but with so many circuits requiring them now, it's hard to spread them apart. Unless you have opnly 20 circuits in a 30-40 space panel, it ain't gonna happen.
