I am just wanting to know if a mig welder would be classified as a resistance welder per NEC 630? Need to make sure so I can size the supply conductors correctly.

nearly all mig welding power sources are transformer rectifier units.

I agree with stew and will add resistance welders are spot welders and variations of that method.
