As per codes should all types of surge protectors incorporate an indicative device?.
After a surge passes through should we replace it?. Quote code/rules

"Its not an NEC issue, its a product standard issue". Check the UL standard, 1449 latest edition. Most SPDs will have protection in the event of a sustained overvoltage to disconnec the SPD. TV events are cummulative to SPDs, eventually the MOVs will fail, which is why you want an end of life indication.

If end of life indication is not compulsory how can a user know whether the components give protection?.
