Yes I had sen this in my search on the last thread. The difference is the fire I mentioned had a honeywell. Seems like T-stats have been a problem lately.

we did a pre-fabbed building a couple of months ago where a t-stat caught fire when power was applied from the smoke shut-down.

the super was trying to place blame on us because we made the connections @ the junction boxes between sections of the building; it was all color to color. all of our wiring was correct, and the transformer in the RTU was working properly.

i couldn't find what started it, but thought it was odd. i couldn't locate a matching t-stat and they called an hvac company to come replace it. no problems with the new one.

but the old one was severely melted. first time i'd seen that happen. i wish i could remember the brand of that thing.
