2 question for 70E

As per NFPA 70E 205.2 where it says that if a one line diagram is provided it must be maintained, is it a requirement to have one even if one is not developed and if it isn't required how does 120.2(F)(1)(a) come into play?

The 100 group of articles deals with creating a safe work environment.
The 200 group of articles deals with maintaining a safe work environment.

How can you work safely in a facility if you don't know where equipment is fed from? Can this be done with a riser diagram instead of a one-line? Of course, it can. Can it be done with panels schedules only? I do not believe so when more than a few panels are involved.
