I have a 2 gang box with a 277 light switch and a 120 light switch. The box has a divider made of a piece of cut floor tile held by a couple of gobs of glue. Built in 1960. I need to install 2 pole occupancy sensor into one side of the box and blank the other side. The sheet on the sensor says it can handle 277 and 120 at the same time and of course there are 2 hot leads and 2 neutrals and 2 manual overide buttons and I already tried one and it works fine. So I guess just knock out the divider and hook it up? Just seems strange having the 277 and 120 together. I have about a hundred to do. Thanks.

First Article 406 is receptacles, I am sure you mean 404.8(B)

404.8(B) Voltage Between Adjacent Devices. A snap switch
shall not be grouped or ganged in enclosures with other
snap switches, receptacles, or similar devices, unless they
are arranged so that the voltage between adjacent devices
does not exceed 300 volts, or unless they are installed in
enclosures equipped with identified, securely installed barriers
between adjacent devices.

If I understand your job you are removing two deviceces and only intalling one.

If that is the case you will not have 'Adjacent Devices' and 404.8(B) will not apply.

Now that said ........ this two pole occupancy sensor ....... is it really rated for supply from two different sources?

If you have two different sources on one switch, how can you comply with 210.7?

210.7 Multiple Branch Circuits. Where two or more
branch circuits supply devices or equipment on the same
yoke, a means to simultaneously disconnect the ungrounded
conductors supplying those devices shall be provided
at the point at which the branch circuits originate.

Wow. I always have so much trouble logging in and staying logged into this forum. It says i'm in and then I go to a new page or try to reply and then I'm out. I had the same problem with the old software. I'm not complaining, but if you wonder why you don't hear back from people this might be the reason.

Anyway, here's the sheet. http://www.sensorswitch.com/DataSheets/WSD-2P.pdf

The middle column states multiple voltages.

The 2011 added a requirement for receptacles that had previously only applied to switches. That is why two separate articles are under discussion here.
