Are there requirements for mcc rooms to contain safety equipment inside them ?
I have seen fire extingusers inside mcc's . There also is traffic in and out from operators without ppe who reset cb and overloads. The mcc rooms are in a remote area of the facility so response time could be a concern should something happen.

The room no. The task yes.

70E requires the work to be done by company "qualified employees" that amongst other things are trained to be knowledgeable about the equipment. Also the PPE level must be evaluated and the boundary limits from the electrical equipment enforced.

Depending on the size of the room there are some requirements for 2 means of ergress and the door hardware associated with that (panic bars). I think there is also some warning signage that needs the be installed (waringing of electrcial hazard and EMF). We additionally have posted arc flash posters in each of our electrcial rooms (hopefully a reminder of what PPE is needed). We've debated having extraction hooks at each electrcial room but decided it would be useless unless we have a working in pairs policy. Still trying to get that one thru!

We are purchasing insulated rubber mats for each MCC room, not required but adds an additional level of protection and comfort when working in a MCC bucket.

Unless the employee is qualified and knows why the breaker tripped they need to stay away.
